James J. Maiwurm
Is a Chairman Emeritus of one of the world’s largest global law firms. As a visionary leader, he implemented an ambitious global strategy that significantly expanded the firm’s presence across the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia while fostering key relationships with firms in Latin America.
Under his leadership, the firm grew into a powerhouse of legal expertise, strengthening its international reach and influence. His strategic approach not only broadened the firm’s footprint but also enhanced its ability to serve clients in a rapidly evolving global marketplace.

With a wealth of experience in legal practice and business leadership, James has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of the legal industry. His commitment to innovation, collaboration, and excellence continues to inspire professionals worldwide.
In 2012, Law 360 recognized James Maiwurm as one of the ten most innovative law firm managing partners. He has held leadership roles, including Chairman and CEO of Kaiser Group International, which encompassed elements of the renowned Kaiser Engineers. With extensive domestic and international transactional experience, James has advised clients across various industries.
Beyond his legal and executive career, he has served on the boards of a leading community bank, an employee-owned government contractor, and a joint venture that successfully completed a challenging nuclear clean-up, as well as numerous non-profit organizations.
James grew up in small-town America and remains happily married to his high school sweetheart. He earned a history degree from the College of Wooster in Ohio and later attended the University of Michigan Law School. Over the years, he has lived in Cleveland, where his two children were born, and for more than 30 years, he has called the Washington, DC region home.
